Arbor Day Foundation – “TD Green Streets” Community Grants

“TD Green Streets supports innovative practices in community forestry. Through this grant program, municipalities are eligible to receive one of ten $20,000 grants in support of local forestry projects in low- to moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods. TD Green Streets grant applications will be reviewed and evaluated by representatives from the Arbor Day Foundation and TD based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation – There is a clear understanding of the purpose of the program, and a program has been designed that promotes innovative, sustainable practices and tools that benefit the community’s urban forest management plan.
  • Partnership and Community Involvement – The municipality has demonstrated an ability to involve the community, nonprofit organizations, volunteers, corporate sector, etc., in the program.
  • Technical Training/Education – The municipality is committed to the training and continuing education of community staff and volunteers through workshops, accreditation, conferences, etc. Expertise is also present or can be sought to guide the municipality in its efforts.
  • Maintenance – A maintenance plan is in place to ensure survivability of new trees.
  • Evaluation – A system is in place to evaluate the success of the program.”

Eligibility: “To be eligible for a TD Green Streets grant, your municipality must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Current (2013 approved Tree City USA) community and located in TD Bank‘s service footprint.
  • Proposing new trees to be planted in neighborhoods identified as low- to moderate-income (LMI). To confirm neighborhood eligibility, visit www.ffiec.gov.”
