Although they’ve often been removed from the places, friends, teachers and coping mechanisms that helped them weather abusive situations at home, many teens living in group foster homes appreciate and thrive in the structure and stability such placements offer. “It’s hard on me. I don’t like being alone,” 16-year-old Samantha told the News-Journal. But, she adds, “I’m not being abused. I’m able to live healthy.”
