In Los Angeles, graffiti taggers are turning violent when confronted by members of the community, and three people have been killed over the past 30 months while trying to stop graffiti vandals in the act. California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger recently signed legislation requiring convicted graffiti vandals to remove their own tags as acts of restorative justice.
In a recent attack, vandals spray-painted and temporarily blinded a 6-year-old boy who saw them tagging gang signs on a wall near Compton. Police are advising residents not to confront the graffiti crews and to call law enforcement instead. Aug. 1, http://www.usatoday.com.
