“This NOFO supports the expansion and enhancement of children’s advocacy centers (CACs) serving American Indian and Alaska Native communities to improve investigative responses and treatment services for victims of child abuse and their families. The program will deliver coordinated information, resource development, and training and technical assistance (TTA) to assist Tribal communities in establishing facility-based multidisciplinary programs that respond to child abuse and deliver support to existing CACs serving and partnering with Tribal governments and Native communities.

Program Goals and Objectives:
Build and improve the capacity of Tribal communities to develop, implement, or enhance their comprehensive, multidisciplinary response to the investigation and prosecution of child abuse and neglect, including the development of child-focused, community-oriented, facility-based programs.

  • Objective 1: Develop and/or expand curricula, publications, and resources to support the expansion of the CAC model for AI/AN communities.
  • Objective 2: Ensure CACs and child abuse multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) serving AI/AN communities have access to high-quality specialized training and technical assistance, practice tools, resources, publications, communities of practice, and evidence-based treatment and practices for child abuse and neglect victims.
  • Objective 3: Deliver systematic, coordinated, customized technical assistance in partnership with the VOCA partners to federally recognized Tribes, CACs, and state chapters that expand and strengthen their capacity for a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases and evidence-based treatment for child abuse victims in AI/AN communities.”

Eligibility:
Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, for profit organizations, small businesses, private institutions of higher education, public and state controlled institutions of higher education, Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized).
