NeighborWorks America recently named Marietta Rodriguez as its next president and CEO. The appointment is a promotion from within, as Rodriguez has been with the national affordable housing and community development nonprofit for more than 20 years with her most recent position being senior vice president for national initiatives. In this position, she managed a $300 million national down payment assistance program that helped nearly 18,000 low-income families and individuals purchase homes. Her time at NeighborWorks America constitutes her entire professional career, having risen in the ranks of the organization since 1997. During this time, Rodriguez created and implemented multiple successful national marketing and fundraising campaigns. She also developed and managed the Loan Scam Alert Campaign as well being responsible for leading the formation of a coalition of federal agencies, nonprofits and local governments to share information to combat mortgage scam tactics which targeted vulnerable communities. Rodriguez is a graduate of Lake Forest College, having earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations and Spanish.

“I am honored to lead NeighborWorks America into its next phase of serving the people and communities who need it most,” Rodriguez said in a press release. “It’s a privilege to work with the top-notch housing and community development professionals at NeighborWorks America, and the results-oriented network of nonprofits it supports. Together we can empower more individuals, create more opportunities and transform more communities.” She replaces Jeffrey Bryson, who has served as interim president and CEO since the resignation of Paul Weech in September of 2017. Marietta Rodriguez assumes the responsibilities of the position at the helm of NeighborWorks America on Aug. 13, 2018.
