Youth Worker Spotlight: Tavari Turner, ‘A Proud Club Professional’

“I was a club kid myself, and as the years went on, yes, staff continued to check in with me,” said Tavari Turner, the education director for the Chattahoochee Valley Boys and Girls Club in Columbus, Georgia. “I think it’s important to check in with all young people, but we also want to make sure they understand that it is also about becoming self-sufficient and independent.”

Turner reflects on his expectations of the young people he works with and the influence youth professionals have had on his choice to be a youth worker.
