An Action Plan for Behavioral Health Workforce Development Strengthening Professional Identity: Challenges of the Addictions Treatment Workforce

These two resources can help mental health and substance abuse professionals organize and strengthen their work force development efforts.

The “action plan” provides key findings from a multiyear process that examined how public and private collaboration strengthens the behavioral health work force. “Strengthening Professional Identity” summarizes trends in addiction treatment; addresses issues of recruitment, retention and staff development; and provides recommendations for improving management, education and accreditation, and work force infrastructure.
