A group of consultants has started what it calls the “first and only trade association for mentoring professionals.”
The mission of the Folsom, Calif.-based Association of Mentoring Professionals (AMP) is to “professionalize and strengthen the mentoring field by empowering its members through education, resource sharing and advocacy,” according to an announcement posted on The National Mentoring Center’s MentorExchange listserv last month.
The venture is run by consultants and former staff members of the Center for Applied Research Solutions (formerly known as EMT Group), whose work has included technical assistance for state-funded mentoring programs in California.
According to AMP’s website, charter memberships begin at $100 per person for mentoring programs with budgets under $500,000. Annual dues are $50 for charter members and $35 for students. Contact: www.mentoringprofessionals.org, (888) 267-2844.
