“The Foundation is committed to a grassroots approach to grantmaking that supports leadership in Pueblo communities and their efforts to effect positive and innovative change that sustains culture and traditions. Funding priorities are focused on cultural preservation and include: (1) Language Revitalization; (2) Sustainable Agriculture; (3) Traditional Building; (4) Traditional Arts and Crafts; (5) Storytelling/Oral History; (6) Youth Education; (7) Leadership Programs including environmental stewardship and ecology; (8) Intercultural Exchange.”

Eligibility:
“The Chamiza Foundation invites proposals from the following: (1) New Mexico’s 19 Pueblo Indian tribal communities; (2) Ysleta del Sur Pueblo located in El Paso, Texas, member of the All Pueblo Council of Governors and the 20th Pueblo; (3) Pueblo community leadership; (4) Non-Pueblo organizations that serve Pueblo communities. However, in this case, the board prefers that the application be submitted by the Pueblo department/program that you are partnering with. Additionally, non-profit organizations must submit a letter of support from the Governor of the Pueblo as evidence that the community has requested their involvement.”
Amount: $3,000 – $15,000 (on average)
