Subject: Education, Arts Education, Family Support, Child/Youth Welfare
Deadline: Jan. 11, 2019 | Apr. 12, 2019 | July 8, 2019
“The PGE Foundation’s grantmaking is organized around three themes — Education, Arts Education, and Safe and Stable Families.
- Education – A cornerstone for individual success and community vitality, education has long been at the heart of our grantmaking. We direct our resources to programs preparing young people to be future ready, including supporting hands-on applied learning experiences that develop essential skills, provide adult mentorship or collective impact models that support system-wide transformation. Of particular interest are projects, programs or organizations that transform teaching methods that connect students to goals and aspirations, that measure age-appropriate development of essential skills (aka socio-emotional skills.) Priority will go to projects, programs or organizations that provide evidence that communities served were included in the development of the projects and/or programs and that can provide examples of intentionally focusing on communities that have faced historic or systemic barriers to reaching equal outcomes.
- Arts Education – When arts and culture are integrated into the classroom experience, teachers and their students create an environment that values critical thinking, problem-solving and creative expression — skills highly valued in the workplace. That’s why we support arts education and cultural outreach programs that promote innovation and creativity, while also enhancing literacy and math aptitude. We also fund access to sequential arts learning and creative expression for young people, particularly low income students, students from rural communities and communities of color. Priority will go to projects, programs or organizations that provide evidence that communities served were included in the development of the projects and/or programs and that can provide examples of intentionally focusing on communities that have faced historic or systemic barriers to reaching equal outcomes.
- Safe and Stable Families – We support organizations that use preventive approaches to helping families create stable environments where children can grow and thrive, with emphasis on food insecurity, housing/homelessness, mental wellness and parent engagement. Safe and stable families grants are directed toward programs that help parents, grandparents and guardians caring for children (up to age 26) develop stable family relationships, economic security and a safe and consistent home environment. Priority will go to projects, programs or organizations that provide evidence that communities served were included in the development of the projects and/or programs and that can provide examples of intentionally focusing on communities that have faced historic or systemic barriers to reaching equal outcomes.”
