“The Childrens Theatre Foundation of America (CTFA) challenges and supports theatre artists to achieve excellence and equity in service to young people… A major priority of CTFA is supporting culturally responsive theatre for youth which clearly recognizes diversity, equity, and inclusion that is important to the future of theatre for young audiences. The Founders Grant Committee is looking to support the work of an organization that is unique and new to the field that will positively advance the field of theatre for young audiences nationally and shares the mission and values of CTFA.

The Founders Project Fulfillment Grant Committee is seeking a ground‐breaking project by a not‐for‐profit theatre that comes to a culmination ready to be shared with the public through production, public display, or publication. This creative project will advance the field of theatre for young audiences and serve as a model of culturally responsive theatre for youth. We are looking for a project that goes above and beyond traditional concepts of theatre for young people in terms of:

  • Content: subject matter, themes explored, non‐traditional characters, etc.
  • Methodology: scripted plays, devised works, immersive experiences, etc.
  • Engagement: partnerships, ancillary events, community engagement.
  • Evaluation: concrete ways to measure impact and success.”

Funder: Childrens Theatre Foundation of America
Eligibility: “This grant is restricted to: (1) 501(c)(3) IRS-certified theatres; (2) in the United States; (3) Established for at least five consecutive years; (4) With a public record of artistic quality in creating work for young audiences; (5) A demonstrated commitment to diversity in leadership; and (6) An operating budget over $1,000,000… Theatres not previously known for producing work for young and family audiences may apply; but the specific project under consideration must serve children, youth, schools, communities and/or families.”
