“In 2020, GradGuard founded College Life Protected, LLC as a social purpose entity that supports programs, research, professional development, and best practices in higher education that promote greater confidence in the value of higher education as a public good. Grants are available in the following areas:

(1) Graduate Research: College Life Protected seeks to support educators, scholars, practitioners and students in uncovering insights that support greater college completion, build confidence in the value of higher education as a public good, and reduce the financial risks & cost of college.   We are interested in funding research topics that address emerging and systemic risks impacting higher education, with specific emphasis on the following types of topics: (1) Mental health and its impact on student success. (2) Research focusing on campus safety issues, including compliance with legislation such as the Clery Act. (3) Student collections and their impact on student re-enrollment. (4) Evaluating the impact of medical withdrawals on educational attainment. (5) On-campus housing and its impact on student success outcomes.

(2) Professional Development: Individuals in the higher education community can apply for College Life Protected grants toward professional development opportunities like conference registration fees, industry-specific training institutes, access to academic journals, experiential learning programs, and other forms of professional development. CLP will prioritize professional development opportunities that have a direct impact on student success and contribute to the recipient’s growth as a professional in higher education. Preference will be given to initiatives that enhance skills, knowledge, or networks in ways that ultimately benefit students and strengthen the educational experience.

(3) Promoting Financial Literacy: College Life Protected recognizes that that financial literacy is a critical skill for student success, impacting everything from academic persistence to long-term financial well-being. That’s why we are committed to funding programs and initiatives that equip students with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed financial decisions. By supporting programs that enhance financial education, we aim to empower students to navigate college costs, manage personal finances, and build a strong financial future.”
