“The Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (NSLA) establishes a Farm to School Program in order to assist eligible entities, through grants and technical assistance, in implementing farm to school programs that improve access to local foods in eligible schools. On an annual basis, USDA awards competitive Farm to School grants that support planning, developing, and implementing farm to school programs. USDA’s Farm to School Grants are an important way to help State, regional, and local organizations as they initiate, expand, and institutionalize farm to school efforts.”

Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, independent school districts, city or township governments, county governments, state governments, special district governments, public and state controlled institutions of higher education, Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments), Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized), small businesses, others.
