Federal Youth Shops Shifted

The U.S. Administration for Children and Families (ACF) has moved several functions to a reorganized Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), which now contains three new divisions:

• Youth Services, dealing with street outreach, runaway youth and programs for children of prisoners.

• Family Violence Prevention, promoting awareness about domestic violence and its victims.

• Abstinence Programs, managing abstinence education formula and competitive grants.

The change formally shifts abstinence education from the Health Resources and Services Administration in the Department of Health and Human Services, and family violence prevention and services from ACF’s Office of Community Services.

The detailed reorganization plan is in the May 2 Federal Register.
