This report summarizes presentations and discussions from a workshop where participants from various disciplines gathered to explore how the behavioral, cognitive, social, health and biological sciences could inform prevention strategies to reduce motor-vehicle crash rates and promote responsible behavior among teenage drivers.
The committee’s plan of action would include: driver education programs that use computer technology; graduated driver’s licensing programs enforced by state motor vehicle agencies; support for parents in guiding their teen drivers; enforcement of teen driving laws at the local level; and community health programs that teach driver safety.
