National Youth Leadership Council is launching Peacebuilding in Action, as part of their Youth as Solutions programming, in collaboration with 9/11 Day. Peacebuilding in Action creates opportunities that teach teams of young people to address conflict on a local level and create unity. The goal is to build more inclusive and equitable communities.

Teams will work together towards a common objective in the spirit of cooperation. They will design and engage in service-learning experiences that promote unity, compassion, and community resilience. These experiences will help empower young people to be active contributors to community life.

NYLC believes that civic action and democracy is where passion meets purpose as young people forge pathways to active citizenship, fostering leadership and driving positive change in their communities.

NYLC’s mission is to create a more just, sustainable, and peaceful world by supporting young people, their schools, and their communities through service-learning curricula and programs.

Choosing ten teams from grades 6-12

NYLC is actively recruiting 10 youth leadership teams from across the country. Teams require a minimum of two youth leaders in grades 6-12 and one adult leader to join Peacebuilding in Action. The program will kick off in March 2024 and runs through September 2024.

Each team will receive a $500 grant to implement their service-learning project, and a $500 stipend for the adult leader’s program assessment. The teams will also receive national recognition for their work, free professional development training for adults, and leadership skills development for youth.

Team applications closing soon

The application deadline is February 27, 2024, at 11:59 PM CST. Apply here today!
