“The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) seeks applications for funding for the implementation of a major OJJDP initiative to assist states, territories and localities to reduce racial and ethnic disparities among youth who come into contact with the juvenile justice system.

The Center for Reducing Racial and Ethnic Disparities (R/ED) in Juvenile Justice has two goals:
(1) to strengthen state and territory-level compliance with a core requirement of the Formula Grants Program authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act, and
(2) to develop and implement comprehensive training and technical assistance that supports state, territorial, Tribal, and community- level efforts to reduce racial and ethnic disparities among youth who come into contact with the juvenile justice system.

This includes identifying and assisting to implement strategies that have been shown to reduce disparities and that divert youth from formal processing.
