“First Nations recognizes that Native food systems are important assets to Native communities. As a result, First Nations has long supported Native communities as they fortify traditional food systems, seek to increase access healthy and fresh foods, increase awareness of and involvement with where food comes from, and expand knowledge of the linkages between foods, Native cultures and/or contribute to tribal economic growth and development of entrepreneurially related food ventures.

With the generous support of the Walmart Foundation, First Nations will establish a Setting the Table for a Healthy Food System in Indian Country Grant that will support work to build the organizational and program capacity of Native American food pantries and food banks, thus boosting control, cultural responsiveness, and infrastructure of community food systems.”

Eligibility:
“(1) Federal- and State-Recognized Tribal Governments (Tribal Government Programs, such as Tribal Arts Programs, Heritage Departments, Economic Development Entities, etc.); (2) Native-controlled 501(c)(3) nonprofits; (3) Native-controlled community organizations with fiscal sponsorship; (4) Native 7871 Organizations.”
