National Human Services Assembly Names Victor Valentine Executive Director

The National Human Services Assembly (NHSA) recently named Victor Valentine as its new executive director.

Valentine comes to the D.C.-based NHSA from a personal business venture in the nonprofit consulting sector, Nfrastruct, LLC, which he founded in 2018 and has been serving as principle consultant and CEO for since. Prior to that, Valentine served as director of engagement and policy at the Maryland Philanthropy Network.

With a career always focused on human services and philanthropy, Valentine also worked as senior director of programs and evaluation at the New York Urban League, senior program manager at United Way of New York City and as assistant director of community partnerships at the Federation Employment & Guidance Service (FEGS).

Graduating from the University of Maryland in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and government, Valentine was the manager of public policy at the employment opportunity expansion organization, Maryland Works, by 2000. This experience led him to the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Employment Development where he took the job as its executive liaison to the workforce investment board in 2003. In this position, Valentine was central to the city’s employment development plans and affected real policy change for the nearly five years he would work there.

Coming back out of the public sector in 2007, Valentine then took an executive role as chief operations officer at the Center for Urban Families in Baltimore. Soon after, he would go back to school at Wilmington University and earn Master of Public Administration degree in nonprofit management before his move to FEGS in New York.

As NHSA’s executive director, Valentine will take lead of the organization at a momentous time in history. He will be responsible for all new and ongoing initiatives with many focused on racial equity both within the organization and sector, but also as a mission in broader society.

“We are very excited to welcome Victor on board as our new Executive Director,” said Jeff Fleischer, Chair of the National Assembly Board of Directors, in a press release. “Victor brings a career of building trusting relationships with nonprofit human service leaders, advocates, and the philanthropic community. He has been the ’go to’ person for many leaders regarding race, equity, and inclusion work.”

Victor Valentine begins work in his new role as executive director of the National Human Services Assembly immediately.
