Pressing Themes in the Out-of-School Time Workforce

This spring, Youth Today convened a group of Out-of-School Time (OST) thought leaders concurrent with the American Educational Research Association annual conference in Washington, District of Columbia, to review the state of the OST workforce and to generate strategies to move the field forward.

The roundtable was an opportunity to connect OST organizations with U.S. government agencies, funders and policymakers. This dialogue helped to expose challenges and explore opportunities ahead, and addressed key issues, including: OST workforce development; recruiting, training and retaining staff; opportunities at the federal and state levels for workforce development; and advocacy for workforce policy.

These leaders’ voices help shape the current and future OST workforce. Add your voice to theirs by writing to Youth Today.
