These are the National Coalition for Child Protection Reform's first two pieces on the state of Michigan's child welfare system as the state begins to work towards goals set by its settlement of a class-action lawsuit with nonprofit litigator Children's Rights.

Cycle of Failure honed in on what NCCPR saw as a "war on grandparents" that was spurred by the Children's Rights lawsuit. Tapeworm in the System focuses on what the organization believes is an overreliance on institutional placement on the part of Michigan's Department of Human Services.
