Kane County, Ill., continues its early fight against the legislation recently signed by Gov. Pat Quinn to comply with the federal Adam Walsh Act, reports James Fuller of the Daily Herald. Fuller describes Kane County’s potential defiance of the new laws as “politically hazardous.

Colorado, whose legislature has made efforts to shield more youth offenders from adult court, sentenced a 13-year-old who pleaded guilty to killing his parents to seven years in juvenile incarceration, reports the Associated Press.
