The Harlem Children’s Zone has been hailed around the nation as a model for community-based education reform, and President Obama created a grant program to help replicate it. But this New York Times report notes that the school and its founder, Geoffrey Canada, “have struggled with the same difficulties faced by other urban schools, even as they outspend them.”
