National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy
In an effort to encourage charitable giving, this new report aims to quantify nonprofits’ value in exact dollars and cents and shows that – for the 15 Los Angeles County organizations analyzed – every $1 invested yielded an estimated $91 in benefits to the surrounding community.
The research, compiled by the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy – an independent nonprofit that uses research and advocacy to persuade people to give to other nonprofits – also shows that the 15 community groups taking part in the report added to their community at a combined value of nearly $7 billion between 2004 and 2008.
The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy considers its values to be far from exact, and prefers to call them a rough estimate.
