This new site offers an array of up-to-date resources and policy strategies to state and local policymakers on issues that affect children, youth and families.
Designed by the D.C.-based Center for the Study of Social Policy, the site provides policy expertise on issues such as early childhood reading, juvenile justice detention and child poverty. It emphasizes an evidence-based approach to public policy, and offers policy briefs accompanied by links to detailed studies and reports on child welfare.
In addition to outlining successful and innovative strategies, Policy For Results lists potential avenues of funding for these programs. For example, the site gives information on how funds from the $787 billion federal stimulus package can be used to improve youth programs.
The site also provides links to a number of relevant resources, including a family budget calculator, a food stamp tool kit, and a model that predicts future juvenile detention populations. State-by-state data on foster care, child poverty and juvenile detention iarealso available on the site.
The tools and data are provided by a number of national nonprofit organizations, such as the Urban Institute and the Annie E. Casey Foundation, which assisted in creating the site.
