Deadline: Apr. 17, 2015
The principal purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement is to find partners to support the Dept. of Interior and National Park Service (NPS) objectives to provide learning and growth experiences for American youth while they perform service learning work on projects in National Parks. NPS encourages and assists the recipient organization(s) to make every effort to recruit youth from ethnically and economically diverse communities for these positions. NPS and recipient staff will educate, encourage and challenge the interns to learn about the NPS and public lands and to develop leadership skills and career options. Participants will be encouraged and enabled to share what they learn with friends, relatives and other community members. Participants will gain hands-on experience and the NPS receives the indirect benefit of completing conservation projects by engaging the program participants in shared environmental stewardship work.
