“Gardens in the schoolyard are effective outdoor learning spaces for students to engage in inquiry-driven, project-based learning across all disciplines. Project Learning Garden is a holistic program that provides participating schools with five major elements to support their garden-based learning programs. The program was designed based on three pillars: (1) Best practices in project-based learning; (2) Best practices in schoolyard garden programs; (3) Research into what practices shape eating behaviors in children as they grow.

Teachers are provided with hands-on training, curriculum aligned to national standards, lesson kits filled with supplies, a schoolyard garden, fully-equipped garden cooking cart, and summer garden management intern.”

Eligibility:
“Public schools in the following school districts, and who serve students grades K-8, are eligible for Project Learning Garden: Atlanta metro area districts (Atlanta Public Schools, Cobb County Schools, DeKalb County Schools, Fulton County Schools, Gwinnett County Schools, Henry County Schools, Clayton County Schools, Fayette County Schools, Marietta City Schools, and City Schools of Decatur) in Georgia; All school districts in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties in CA.”
