“Alkermes recognizes the significant and critical challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought on the communities central to our mission, including people living with addiction, serious mental illness or a cancer diagnosis. To address urgent COVID-19-related needs in the communities we serve, Alkermes is activating a special edition of its signature program, Alkermes Inspiration Grants.

Alkermes will award a total of up to $500,000 in grants in 2020 to support innovative and impactful programs designed to address acute and long-term challenges that patients, caregivers and family members face as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic across the United States. The application period will run through May 20, 2020.

We encourage applicants to be creative and innovative in proposing programs to address COVID-19-related needs. The list below provides a few examples of program areas that would be eligible for funding, but it should be noted that it does not include all possible categories of programming.

  • Expansion/enhancement of helplines (e.g., training, staffing) to address questions and concerns about resources and managing illness/addiction in relation to COVID-19
  • Education and/or support on how to access needed wrap-around services (e.g., housing, training) to help people living with serious mental illness and/or in recovery from substance use disorders return to work and/or return to life from criminal justice settings
