Subject: Child/Youth Welfare, Health, Food, Food Access, Nutrition
Deadline: June 5, 2018
“This year, American Heart Association (AHA) NYC is accepting proposals from non-profit organizations that have a focus and/or concentration on expanding healthy food access for children living in underserved communities throughout the five boroughs of New York City. 1.2 million NYC residents live in lower income communities with limited access to healthy food retail, and these same neighborhoods often struggle with high rates of unemployment and diet-related chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. All people deserve to have access to the kinds of foods needed for a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle, and AHA NYC is looking to support programs and projects that make the healthy food choice an easy and affordable one.
Priority will be given to proposals that promote systemic change through strong, outcome-focused initiatives (including, but not limited to, community collaborations, environmental and programmatic interventions, and policy advocacy) that target priority neighborhoods most burdened by a limited access to healthy food. Program deliverables include anticipated measurable impact and outcomes, and an outline of how the program can be sustained and/or reproduced beyond this grant.”
