New York Tells Schools What Their Graduates Know – and Don’t Know

New York City is sending reports to its high schools telling them how many of their students who arrived at the city’s public colleges needed remedial courses, according to this story in The New York Times. It also gives such information as how many drop out after one semester.

In looking at the often-dispiriting results, The Times says the reports “let educators know whether they have been preparing those students for college or simply churning them out.”
