The Corporation for National and Community Service is in the process of formulating its five-year strategic plan – required from it and other federal agencies by Congress every five years – and is holding a series of webinars in coming weeks and a conference call on Aug. 4.
CNCS officials have already formulated a bare-bones strategy that is to inform its activities through the year 2015. The various public (virtual) gatherings will help to put more detail into the plan.
The current outline follows the guidelines set forth in the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, which mandates that CNCS programs should focus in the areas of education, healthy futures, clean energy, veterans, opportunity and disaster preparedness.
A schedule of the upcoming webinars – along with instructions on how to participate – and more details about the strategic plan are here.
