Colleges Ease Way for Community College Transfers

Reflecting what could become a national trend, four-year universities in Virginia and Maryland are taking various measures make it easier for community college students to transfer in, according to The Washington Post. Common standards for community college courses and guaranteed admission to the universities are cited as the main reasons that more young people are turning to the community college network for their first two years of higher education, and the transfers are changing the face of the student populations at the universities.
