The new year could bring new resources for court-appointed special advocates (CASAs) and guardians ad litem – the association that represents these volunteers will open its annual grant program on Jan. 4.
The National CASA Association announced that starting Monday, eligible organizations will be able to apply for grants to build capacity, implement a diversity plan to better serve abused and neglected children and develop new programs. Program expansion and sustainability grants will also be available. Organizations eligible to renew their 2009 awards will receive a separate application by email in early January, the association said.
Applications for new awards are due March 5.
A summary of the 2010 National CASA grants program, supported through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention with support from Jewelers for Children, is available online.
