Until policymakers look at youth development, workforce development, K-20 education, violence prevention and public health as one combined strategy, where funding needs to reach kids when they are young, and near where they live, then stay connected to them until they are adults and holding jobs, there will be inconsistent funding, poor distributions of funding to where it’s most needed, and too little impact for the billions of dollars being spent.
