Wallace Gives $1.8 Million For Arts Education

The Wallace Foundation has announced grants to two Los Angeles arts learning initiatives that help bring high-quality arts experiences to youth in Los Angeles County. The foundation will provide the Los Angeles County Arts Commission with $1.2 million to advance the region’s six-year-old coordinated arts education initiative, Arts for All, and the Los Angeles Unified School District with a $600,000 planning grant to fund the development of its second 10-year plan for arts education.

The Wallace Foundation will study both initiatives in order to document best practices about how communities can improve arts learning throughout school districts.

According to the grant announcement, the foundation chose Los Angeles after a nationwide search because it had made previous efforts to coordinate arts learning resources and already had in place committed school district personnel, representatives of cultural organizations and local funders.
