“The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is pleased to announce a competitive grant opportunity designed to provide summer campership, enrichment opportunities, and Counselor-in-Training programming to Hartford youth and/or people of all ages with disabilities in our 29-town region. The Hartford Foundation welcomes requests of up to $50,000 for activities implemented during the summer of 2026 and expects to award up to $750,000 in total across all grantees.

The Hartford Foundation’s goals in supporting summer programming are to:
(1) provide children in Hartford, as well as people of all ages with disabilities across the region, with a place to go during the traditional workday in support of working families while school is out of session, and
(2) provide Hartford youth with career exposure through counselor-in-training (CIT) programs.

UPDATE: The 2026 Summer Program application process has changed to invitation only. Organizations that received a Summer Program grant in any of the 2023-2025 summer seasons will be automatically invited to apply for a grant through the 2026 Summer Program Request for Proposals. This invitation does NOT guarantee that applicants will receive funding, nor that their full funding request will be met. New or previously denied applicants interested in applying will need to schedule an eligibility interview with Foundation staff by Friday, December 19th.”

“The Hartford Foundation awards grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations – with the exception of private non-operating foundations, which we do not fund. The Foundation will consider supporting projects led by organizations or residents without 501(c)(3) status, if they partner with a nonprofit fiscal sponsor.”
