Every Hour Counts adds 14 new members

As Every Hour Counts celebrates its 20th anniversary, the network has recently announced the addition of 14 new intermediary member organizations. This brings the network’s total membership to 40 communities across more than 20 states and includes its first member focused on rural communities.

“These communities are pretty incredible,” said Susan Diaz, senior director of member engagement. “They’re really a collaborative set of organizations that are interested in learning and growing their work in their communities … and they’re excited to share resources that they have that will complement the work and the field.”

The new Every Hour Counts communities are:

Every Hour Counts is a network of afterschool intermediaries working to “increase access to quality learning opportunities, particularly for underserved students.”

These intermediary organizations and networks play a crucial role in bridging the gap between direct service providers and larger systems, coordinating resources, training, advocacy and technical assistance to strengthen the youth development sector. As a 2021 Wallace Foundation study found, cities with strong intermediaries were better able to sustain and adapt their youth development systems, even during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic.
