After School Coordinator
Reports to: Palm Breeze/ Black On Black Crime Task Force Executive Board
FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $15.50/hr – $19.90/hr

Position Summary
The After School Coordinator manages the overall daily operations of the Reichert House Youth Academy’s after-school program, with the primary concern for the program and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, volunteers, community relations, and membership administration. This encompasses planning, coordinating, implementing, and supervising all program personnel (which includes ongoing recruitment and retention of a specified number of part-time staff members). Certain administrative duties also fall within the Unit Director’s responsibilities, these responsibilities include the day-to-day general administration of a program including, budgeting, expense control, income generation, program development and quality control, community relations, collaborations, long-range planning and facility maintenance. The after-school coordinator also provides direction and leadership for the achievement of Association goals in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the Board.
Core and Strategic Functions
• Direct and administer total operation of the School Age Program site including the interpretation and execution of established policies, the development of procedures and methods, staffing, evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs and operation
• Plan and conduct a wide variety of programs and activities that maximize the site, support the cause and enhance program participants.
• Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct. Ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment by keeping supplies organized, maintaining and cleaning facilities, and caring for equipment.
• Promote and monitor membership and/or program growth, taking a leadership role in membership cultivation and retention
• Assure facilitated activities are safe, engaging and age-appropriate for program participants
• Responsible for maintaining all records and data on each child, employee and volunteer
• Responsible for effectively handling all emergency incidents and submitting proper documentation that may occur in RHYA program, using mature, sound judgment

Qualification Requirements
Education & Experience
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or an associate degree with four (4) years of youth development experience
• 3-5 years experience in developing and implementing youth guidance and development programs preferred
• CPR and first aid certified or be willing to become certified
• Management skills are necessary — Proven ability to supervise staff and volunteers
• Knowledge of (and access to) community organizations and assistance agencies are required
• Must possess excellent written and verbal skills At least 3 to 5 years experience working with youth programs required
• Basic computer skills / Microsoft Office
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Must have the ability and desire to work with youth in a variety of environments
• Must have the ability to work independently and efficiently without direct supervision
• Ability to pass DCF Level II background screening and drug test
Supervisory
This position is responsible for supervising other staff.
Work Environment
This position generally works M–F, 10am – 7pm, but may require longer hours outside of this schedule and occasional weekends when necessary. Most work is conducted inside an office and outside an environment, but occasionally requires outdoor events. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Relationships
Internal – Maintain close, daily contact with the managing board to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advice, and counsel.
External – Maintains contact with external community groups, schools where program is housed, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize the RHYA.

• Lead and/or participate in branch special events for fundraising or mission advancement.
Physical and Mental Requirements
• Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time; bending and squatting on occasion
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. on occasion
• Ability to hear at a normal conversational level
• Ability to maintain high energy level when necessary

• Oversee the planning, coordination, implementation, supervision and evaluation for all program curriculums including DOJ and OJJDP and other grant requirements.
• Incorporate site-specific curriculum that will address social issues and interests that are specific to designated site. Provide expectations and guidance to staff on the program creation and delivery.
