“To further assist communities in their efforts to conduct public education and awareness activities highlighting the JJDP Act, delinquency prevention, and youth justice, OJJDP will provide funding to an entity that will make subawards to communities for projects to provide education and awareness related to preventing juvenile delinquency and promoting youth justice and to serve as the technical assistance provider to the competitively selected subgrantees. The purpose of these subrecipient community education and awareness events is to:
(1) Provide an opportunity for juvenile justice agencies, local coalitions, youth serving organizations, and community members to strengthen local partnerships and work together toward local solutions to prevent youth delinquency, risk behavior and victimization.
(2) Educate the relevant local community members regarding best practices and evidence-based strategies in delinquency prevention and intervention, as well as providing opportunities for further engagement in developing solutions.
(3) Increase public awareness of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, including how to request resources and assistance.”

Eligibility: Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, private institutions of higher education, public and state controlled institutions of higher education.
