The Corporation for National and Community Service has chosen 14 organizations to receive grants to help them plan programs they hope can become new AmeriCorps programs. The grants are limited to $50,000 and can only go to groups that have not received AmeriCorps money in the past.
Among the groups chosen for the planning grants are four that service Native Americans, a YouthBuild project, the William J. Clinton Foundation, for a program to help fight obesity, an immigrant rights program and a mentoring program.
The grants are designed to give the various programs support and technical assistance to help them better compete for AmeriCorps funding.
The complete list of programs that received planning grants is here.
