Thirty-six Learn and Serve America grants – totaling almost $20 million and designed to engage students in service-learning projects that enhance their education – were announced today by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Learn and Serve America grants are available to schools, higher education institutions, Native American tribes, community-based organizations and others to assist in the planning and implementation of service-learning programs. The largest grant, to the Massachusetts Department of Education, is for $1.15 million. Other major grants are to the Education Commission of the States, $926,640; Youth Service America, $890,278; the Hawaii Department of Education, $900,000; the National Youth Leadership Council, $899,974; the D.C. Commission on National and Community Service, $860,571; and SFSU California Campus Compact, $928,510.
