The Forum for Youth Investment (FYI) launched a new effort last month to expand its Ready by 21 initiative.
While more than 40 state and local groups use the strategy, the announcement marks a new focus on national partners and nationwide dissemination.
Ready by 21’s objective is to ensure that youth are prepared for college, work and life by educating and helping funders, service providers and advocates to “change the odds for young people,” according to its website. The initiative provides information, technical assistance, training, network support and partnership opportunities.
“In virtually every city and state we go, we find that there is someone who takes it upon themselves to convene [change makers] in the community,” said FYI Program Director Thaddeus Ferber. However, those people often feel like “they’re reinventing the wheel,” so the initiative provides resources to help.
Ready by 21’s major national partners include Corporate Voices for Working Families, the National Conference of State Legislatures and the American Association of School Administrators.
