Sally Prouty, who had headed the Corps Network since 2002, announced today that she will step down as president and CEO in November.
In an email to colleagues, Prouty said she does not have any plans for after she leaves the network, other than to spend time with her family.
The Corps most recently was in the news for having a $10 million grant withdrawn by the Labor Department after a losing applicant questioned the procedure that led to its award and of another award to YouthBuild.
Established in 1985, The Corps Network is the voice of the nation’s 158 Service and Conservation Corps. Currently operating in 44 states and the District of Columbia, Corps annually enroll more than 33,000 young men and women in service every year. Today’s Corps, inheritors of the legacy of FDR’s Civilian Conservation Corps, enable members to improve community and the environment through programs including Civic Justice Corps, Public Lands Corps, Clean Energy Service Corps, and Corps Respond.
Before being named to head the Corps Network, Prouty spent four years as Deputy Director, Ohio Department of Natural Resources and seven years as Director of the Ohio Civilian Conservation Corps operating two residential and six nonresidential programs.
