Educators and youth workers participated in the National Youth-At-Risk Conference’s annual poverty simulation in Savannah, Georgia, in March 2017.
Participants were divided into low-income families, and each group spent one month living in poverty — with each simulated week lasting 15 minutes. Families were to go to work and school, buy food and pay bills at the various service providers stationed around the room.
