Salary Range: $69,997-$89,219

Essential Functions and Objectives:

As a key member of the Department of Extended Learning and Community Schools (DELCS) leadership team, the Senior Manager actively oversees and supports the Director in the management of one or more key functional areas of the Department. The Senior Manager will actively advise the Director to ensure the Department’s achievement of goals aligns with our DPS vision and goals, as well as best practices in the afterschool field and youth development.

– Manages the work of one more key functional areas of the department ensuring alignment with the Academic Strategic Plan’s personalized learning strategy and the Denver Plan 2020 and best practices for the functional area.

– Supports the Director in leading all culture, communication, and change initiatives.

– Serves as a core staff member of the Denver Afterschool Alliance staff.

– Collaborates with the Denver Afterschool Alliance Board of Directors, the Office of Children’s Affairs, city officials and other stakeholders.

– In collaboration with the Director, actively seeks new funding sources (including grant funds), oversees compliance with all grant guidelines, and serves as a primary contact for funders.

– Provides oversight in Department grant writing, submission, and reporting.

– In collaboration with the Director, manages or participates in data collection and evaluation efforts in order to support the programs team in data-driven decision making to inform program quality and outcomes and the operations team in increasing efficiency and accuracy of policies, practices, and customer service.

– Manages 3-5 members of the DELCS team including motivating, hiring, performance management, and terminations.

– Represents DELCS in citywide afterschool efforts and / or national conferences and convening’s as assigned by the Director.

– Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

Proven ability to effectively:

– Motivate oneself and others towards high levels of achievement

– Perform project needs analysis, task analysis, and gap analysis

– Establish and maintain project scope and goals; prepare project management documentation.

– Facilitate user groups, focus groups, needs assessment meetings, and project teams.

– Communicate clearly (both written and oral) with diverse groups, including marketing presentations to various constituencies.

– Demonstrated understanding of assessment and evaluation tools and techniques.

– Knowledge and experience in grant writing and management.

– Ability to set priorities, manage several projects at once, and work independently with minimal supervision.

– Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with varying levels of management in a proactive and forward thinking manner.

– Strong problem solving skill; experience in managing conflict and ability to respond creatively to challenges.

– Skill in using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Extensive knowledge of:

– Experience developing and maintaining local and national relationships in the out-of-school time and youth development field.

– Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues and concerns related to public education and afterschool programs.

– Culturally responsive strategies for ensuring educational success.

– District strategies and priorities, including the Denver Plan 2020.

Education Requirements:

– Bachelor’s Degree in education, non-profit management, or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.

– Five (5) or more years management experience or project experience in an education, city-wide network, or after-school setting.
