Robert L. Woodson Jr., according to a spokesman at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), has “returned to private practice.” Read that as meaning he’s back with dad (Robert L. Woodson Sr.) at the D.C.-based National Center for Neighborhood Enterprise as a vice president.
It also appears that the young Woodson’s Capitol Hill sojourn is over for now. After a number of years with a couple of Republican congressmen, he wound up as staff director for Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas). Then the incoming Bush administration slotted him as deputy chief of staff to newly christened HUD Secretary Mel Martinez. When Dan Murphy resigned earlier this year to join a law firm, Woodson became chief of staff. That is until recently, when he made way for Martinez’s third chief of staff in two years, Frank Jimenez.
