Anuja Khemka, MSW is the new executive director of the Steve Fund, the country’s only nonprofit focused on the mental health of minority students. Khemka is a promotion from within, having worked as the senior strategy and programs advisor for the three-year-old organization since just after its inception. With 15 years of experience in the corporate and philanthropic sectors, she first came to the Steve Fund from JP Morgan Chase where she worked for two years as vice president of global philanthropy and corporate responsibility. Prior to that, Khemka was a program manager at the TIAA-CREF institute. Further philanthropic experience includes the management of a large portfolio of grantees as well as program development and implementation during a four-year stint as a program officer at the Goldman Sachs Foundation. This was after she spent three years as an associate at the Goldman Sachs Private Equity Group directly out of college. A 2002 graduate of Brown University, Khemka first obtained her bachelor’s degree in business and managerial economics before entering the workforce. In 2011, she went back to school and attended Columbia University in the City of New York, earning a master’s degree in non-profit, public and organizational management. Since then, her career has been completely focused on the philanthropic sector. In addition to her full-time positions, Khemka has also regularly worked as a consultant for nonprofits and corporate foundations in the New York area. She has been a contributor to Forbes as well, mostly writing about philanthropy management and funding issues. Anuja Khemka, MSW has already assumed the many responsibilities of her new role at the head of the Steve Fund.
