“Building upon the legacy of Mother Cabrini and the Catholic tradition of healing for the sick and caring for the poor, our Foundation supports programs that meet the unmet healthcare and healthcare related needs of individuals, families, and communities throughout New York State. The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation provides funding through the following Programs:
• Access to Healthcare: Supports programs that help ensure all New Yorkers have access to the full range of quality health services they need, when and where they need them, without financial hardship. Programs within this portfolio address a variety of factors that impact access to quality healthcare, including the following: Affordability, Accessibility, Capacity, Acceptablity.
• Basic Needs: Our Basic Needs program aims to support the following essentials so New Yorkers can build healthy lives: Access to Benefits and Social Services, Economic Security/Mobility, Housing, Food and Nutrition.
• Healthcare Workforce: MCHF is committed to improving health outcomes for underserved New Yorkers by investing in a skilled, diverse, and resilient healthcare workforce. Our initiatives address shortages in high-demand professions while promoting worker wellness, job satisfaction, and clear pathways for career advancement. Our commitment reflects the complexity and diversity of the healthcare workforce and supports a broad range of professionals, including, but not limited to, allied health professionals, community-based health workers, direct care workers, nurses and physicians, as well as future healthcare practitioners. We fund programs in these key healthcare workforce professions – especially for individuals from low-income, underrepresented backgrounds, and underserved communities – with interventions such as: Pipeline Development, Education and Training, Career Progression and Retention, Learning and Workforce Infrastructure.
• Mental and Behavioral Health: We want to ensure that individuals directly or indirectly affected by mental and behavioral health conditions will receive affordable, high-quality, culturally appropriate support, services, or treatment within nurturing communities. We know that mental and behavioral health needs are particularly acute in historically marginalized communities and for populations that have been adversely affected by socioeconomic inequities. We support programs that span the continuum of prevention, treatment, and recovery, including, but not limited to, the following: Education, Awareness, and Prevention; Services and Treatment; Capacity, Access and Workforce Development.
• General Fund & Eight Populations: Mother Cabrini Health Foundation recognizes that our Programs will not include the full spectrum of opportunities to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable New Yorkers. The General Fund is designed to consider and support projects that do not fit within our Programs but that advance the health and well-being of our eight priority populations: Immigrants, Justice-Involved Individuals, Low-Income Individuals and Families, Older Adults, People with Disabilities, Veterans, Young Children, Pregnant Women, and New Moms and Dads, Youth and Young Adults.”
