Diego Holguin is a 17-year-old high school senior who is very active in school. In addition to taking three AP courses, he serves as president of the gay-straight alliance and is secretary of both the student council and Interact club. On top of his academics, he works four days per week.
“If I work the night before, I usually think about how I’m going to do my homework that day, or when I’m going to do my homework. I always think about my classes and how much work is going to pile up,” said Holguin, “It’s definitely difficult to juggle school and work. I feel like I’m managing it OK. Senior year can get pretty expensive. … At the end of the day it’s all for a reason.”
Diego’s story is the first installment in our “A Day in the Life of a U.S. Teen” series.
