“The Sun Life Rising Star Awards program supports students and nonprofit organizations that are committed to building a stronger future through education.” “Through the program, Sun Life will award grants of $50,000 to twelve nonprofit organizations working to promote the academic achievement of underserved youth. In turn, each nonprofit will nominate an exemplary student to receive a $5,000 college scholarship.”

Eligibility: To be considered for a Sun Life Rising Star Award, your organization should: (1) Be designated as 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization as defined by the Internal Revenue Code. (2) Operate within (or within 40 miles of) one of the following locations: Boston, MA; Nashville, TN; San Francisco, CA; Tulsa or Oklahoma City, OK; or South Florida (includes the following counties: Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Broward, Lee, Hendry, Collier, and Monroe). (3) Directly benefit secondary school youth, ages 21 and younger, in the area of education engagement and matriculation rates (4) Be aligned with or partner with secondary or post-secondary educational institutions. (5) Demonstrate fiscal soundness. (6) Have clearly stated and measurable goals and objectives. (7) Seek funding for specific program support. (8) Have at least a three-year track record of success.
